The Bay adventurer is the latest addition to the ever expanding Paihia Accommodation Group, owned by Mark and Elena Harnden. We are a young (-ish) and enthusiastic couple from Scotland and Ukraine. We made our home here in the Bay of Islands in 2004 and are passionate about the area, its environment, nature and wildlife. We believe that the Bay of Islands is THE best place to live or visit in New Zealand, if not in the world!

Owning 4 accommodation properties, we are highly experienced in looking after visitors to our wonderful part of the planet. We have extensive local knowledge and we will do our utmost to ensure that you have the best possible experiences during your visit, and go home with precious memories that will last a life time.

Bay Adventurer 'Green' (Environmental) Policies
Here at the Bay Adventurer, we are committed to positively contributing to our physical environments.  We are continually looking for ways to improve our business and our role within the environment.  We have implemented our committment to the environment in the following ways:

• Recycling - we recycle all of our waste at the Bay Adventurer : glass, paper, plastic, aluminum, food waste
• Energy Efficient Lighting - we utilise long-life energy efficient light bulbs for the same output they save up to 80% of a standard light bulb
• Water - natural gas water heating systems
• Showers - we ask our guests to be remindful of their shower times to minimise unnecessary use of our water resources
• Heating - provided by a natural gas fire in the communal area and energy efficient fan heaters
• Office systems - recycle and refill print cartridges and paper
• Laundry - upgraded our washing machines to more energy and water efficient models
• Drying - we solar dry our house laundry whenever possible
